In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 5 of the Press Council Act, 1978 (37 of 1978), the Central Government hereby notifies the nomination of Justice C.K. Prasad, retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India, as the Chairman of the Press Council of India. Justice C.K. Prasad will succeed Justice Markandey Katju, who was also a retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India, and served as the Chairman of the Press Council of India from October 5, 2011 –October 5, 2014.
