The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences has started a lecture series which featured Ms.Zia Mody, Senior Partner, AZB & Partners as its first speaker. Unlike the regular test series this lecture was virtual and was conducted via video-conferencing. Ms.Mody spoke on the topics of mergers and acquisitions as well as arbitration in India. She elaborated upon a special focus on foreign direct investment in the country and how India can become a Global Arbitration Centre. The enthusiastic students turned up in numbers to attend the talk. She discussed the rise in investments and how students can enhance their abilities in coping with the growing legal requirement. The lecture held on 6th of December, 2014 shall be followed by Professor Madhava Menon on the 13th of December, 2014. He shall be discussing the Judicial Appointments Bill in detail. This series was an idea of the student juridical association which is the student body of WBNUJS and it has been actively involved in the affairs of the University.
The University has named the series as NUJS Weekend Lecture Series (NUJS WLS) and it aims to remake for the loss of repute due to the recent scams and loss of face. The recruitment has also been on a rise with numerous banks stepping in.
