As reported by the media, Thailand by amending the Narcotic Act, 1979 approved the use of marijuana for medical use and research on 25-12-2018.
Adult use of recreational cannabis remains illegal. It is forbidden to use Marijuana across much of South East Asia, which has some of the world’s harshest punishments for drug law violations outside of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
It has also been reported that earlier, Thailand had a tradition of using marijuana to relieve pain and fatigue.
By the said approval of medicinal use of marijuana, Thailand becomes the first South East Asian country to legalise the use of cannabis.
