NUSRL | National Seminar on “Human rights: Social Integration and Challenges”

National University of Study and Research in Law organized a one day National Seminar on “Human rights: Social Integration and Challenges” through its Centre for Human Rights and Subaltern Studies on 8th June 2019 (Saturday). 

The distinguished Guests for the event were:

2. Bhopal Mr. Surajit Dey, Registrar (Law) NHRC

3. Mrs. Priya Dubey, IG (Prison) Ranchi. 

The seminar proceedings begun with the pious lightning of the lamp ceremony, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Kesava Rao, Vurrakulla, Vice Chancelor of NUSRL, wherein he stated that the present time is an era where people speak of rights and thus it was a commendable idea to organise a seminar of this stature to address to the various issues of Human Rigths prevalent in our society. 

After his address the gathering was given a brief overview of the seminar as well as the Centre by Dr. Sangita Laha who is the Dean(Academics) as well as the Convenor of the Centre. After her address the seminar finally begun with the speech of Mr. Dey wherein he stated that these human rights vest with an individual right from his birth and continue till his death. The country has many legislations with regards to this subject but still there are a plethora of cases of human rights violation which include cases of human trafficking, malnutrition, forced labour etc in our courts thus it necessitates a proper introspection into this issue and improvement and creation of platforms where these problems could be redressed. 

Followed by it was the keynote address by (Prof) D.P. Verma wherein he gave detailed presentation on the topic dealing with the reasons of such human rights issues, the origination and jurisprudential aspects of human rights, the present constitutional safeguards available in the country in the context of human rights and even in those mentioned United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. 

Post lunch, the seminar begun with the paper presentations of all the 40 participants which included students, research scholars and professors from institutions of repute throughout the country. The programme finally concluded with the distribution of certificates to all the participants and the valedictory speech given by Mr. Subir Kumar Assit. Prof. Law, NUSRL, Ranchi.
