Press Note| 10TH SLCU National Moot Court Competition, 2019

About the event:
The 10th SLCU National Moot Court Competition 2019 was conducted by the Moot Court Society of School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) from 13th – 15th September 2019.

The event was conducted over a period of three days having two preliminary rounds, an octafinal round, a quarter-final round, a semi-final round and the final round. The competition witnessed 42 law colleges across the nation take part in it. The moot problem revolved around the areas of national security, individual rights, our federal structure, the right to privacy, and related constitutional aspects.

Inauguration:
The inauguration of the 10th SLCU National Moot Court Competition was conducted on 13th September 2019 and was graced by Prof Muneer Abduroaf, Western Cape University, South Africa.

Final Rounds:
The Final Round of the competition was judged by a panel of judges comprising of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Krishna Shripad Dixit, Judge, High Court of Karnataka, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ramakrishna Devdas, Judge, High Court of Karnataka, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Hethur Puttaswamy Gowda Sandesh, Judge, High Court of Karnataka, Mr. Sandesh J. Chouta, Addl. Advocate General, High Court of Karnataka and Mr. P Prasanna Kumar, Standing Counsel for CBI and NIA, High Court of Karnataka. The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Mr Justice Krishna Shripad Dixit,
Judge, High Court of Karnataka who presided over the ceremony as the chief guest and addressed the audience.

Best Memorial – School of Excellence in Law, Chennai
2nd Best Memorial – Sastra Deemed to be University, Thanjavur, and
University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun
Best Speaker – Nihal Sahu, National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi
2nd Best Speaker – Abhirame K, School of Excellence in Law, Chennai
