Kashi Vishwanath Temple-Gyanvapi Masjid Land Title Dispute Row; Varanasi Court allows ASI survey [Religious Character]

Varanasi Court, Uttar Pradesh: While the Allahabad High court is yet to decide the maintainability of the suit in the matter of Anjuman Intazamia Masazid Varanasi v. 1st A.D.J. Varanasi, a Civil Court in Varanasi District of UP has allowed the Archaeological Survey of India to undertake a survey at the disputed site of Kashi Vishwanath Temple-Gyanvapi Mosque costs of which are to be borne by the Uttar Pradesh government.

ASI has been asked to do the survey and to find whether there was a “superimposition, alteration or addition or structural overlapping with/over, any other religious structure.
