RGNUL wins 1st NUV NATIONAL MOOT, 2021


The first edition of Navrachna National Virtual Moot court competition was conducted by the Navrachna University on 22nd and 23rd October, 2021. The team comprising of Jasmine Mangat, Parinati Mishra and Utkarsh Goyal emerged as the winners of this competition.

The moot pertained to issues revolving around IPR and arbitration, with special emphasis on questions pertaining to arbitrability of IPR disputes, involving issues in rem and whether non signatories to an arbitration agreement could be considered parties to an arbitral proceeding.

The final round was adjudged by Justice Kalpesh Jhaveri, an Indian Judge and the former Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.


Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai wins Client Counselling segment at the Virtual Client Counselling and Mediation Competition, 2021 


The team comprising Apeksha Chauhan and Janhavi Deshmukh, 3rd-year students at Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, were adjudged Winners of the Client Counselling segment at the Virtual Client Counselling and Mediation Competition, 2021 organised by ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad. Rohan Tripathi and Laksh Sharma formed the Winning Negotiating Pair in the Mediation Segment, and Nardeep Chawla was adjudged 3rd Best Mediator. Rohan, Laksh and Nardeep are 2nd-year students at MNLU Mumbai.

Divya Singh, a 3rd-year student at Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, was adjudged ‘Best Mediator’ at the 4th SYAR National Mediation and Negotiation Competition, 2021.

RGNUL wins 1st British High Commission- Jindal Global University Moot Court Competition, 2021

The 1st edition of British High Commission- Jindal Global University Moot conducted its finals on 10th September, 2021. The team comprising of Kushagra Gupta, Shaswati Parhi and Shantanu Parmar representing Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab emerged as the Winners of the competition. Mr. Kushagra Gupta was recognized as the Best Speaker of the Competition while Shaswati Parhi emerged as the Best Speaker of the Final Rounds. The team also bagged the award for ‘Best Strategy Note’.

The Proposition involved a carefully crafted mix of issues dealing with Criminal, Constitutional and Civil law. The Criminal aspect dealt with the locus standi of victims in bail proceedings and challenging the validity of bail orders due to non-application of mind. The Constitutional aspect involved questioning the validity of the marital rape exception in the IPC and maintainability of writs filed by non-citizens. The Civil Law aspect dealt with rights of parties to contest suits anonymously and determination of ‘necessary’ parties to a suit.

The final round of the moot was adjudged by Sir Guy Fetherstonhaugh QC- treasurer of the Inner Temple in the UK, along with leading advocates Ms. Vrinda Grover and Ms. Payal Chawla.

 


Aaryan Mohan, student of Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA, wins 5th Pranita Mehta Memorial Essay Competition


I am delighted to inform your good self that Mr. Aaryan Mohan, fourth year student, Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA, participated in 5th Pranita Mehta Memorial Corporate Law Essay Competition organised by National Law University, Jodhpur and has been adjudged as the Winner for his essay titled “Do EdTech Companies fall under the Ambit of E-Commerce Rules, 2020?”.
Mr. Aaryan Mohan has been awarded a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/- and further the manuscript is getting published in the Journal on Corporate Law & Governance [Vol. IV Issue II], publication of National Law University, Jodhpur.

RMLNLU wins 1st S. K. Singh Memorial National Client Counseling Competition, 2021

An RMLNLU Team comprising of Hardik Bansal and Krishna Upreti has won the 1st S. K. Singh Memorial National Client Counseling Competition, 2021, organised by Lucknow University.

JMI emerges as the RUNNERS-UP at the 1st ALS National Trial Advocacy Competition, 2021

Jamia Millia Islamia; New Delhi has emerged as the Runners-Up at the Amity Law School, Noida, 1st National Trial Advocacy  Competition, 2021. The team has also won the Best Speaker Award.

The team comprising of  Anugya Jha, Ilma Khan, Syed Miran Ahmad and Syed Mohammad Haroon, from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi has emerged as Runners-up at the Amity Law School, Noida, 1st National Trial Advocacy  Competition, 2021.

The competition was held on the 23rd- 25th October, 2021. A total of 25 teams participated during the preliminary rounds from various law schools across the country. The team cleared the preliminary round with highest marks and qualified to the semifinal round with 3 other teams. The team’s speaker Anugya Jha also won the award of Best Speaker.
