NLU Delhi

National Law University, Delhi is set to organize the 6th Indian Vis Pre-Moot for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition, in association with the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris (ICC).

Unlike many other international moots, there are no national level qualification rounds for the Willem C. Vis Moot Court Competition. Pre-Moots are organised in a number of countries to provide teams with the opportunity to practice before the moot. India also organizes a Pre-Moot for teams to gain experience before the international rounds. The 6th Indian Vis Pre-Moot, 2015 in association with the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris shall be organised by National Law University, Delhi and shall be held at the NLU Delhi campus. This year’s competition will be the largest Pre-Moot in Southeast Asia, along with substantial participation from international teams. The 6th Indian Vis Pre-Moot will be held from 25th to 28th February, 2016. A detailed programme for the Pre-Moot with all relevant information will be sent to the selected teams in the beginning of 2016.

The deadline for registration is 11:59 pm, 31 December, 2015 (Indian Standard Time). Please note that each institution must register only once. If there are two separate teams participating in the Vienna and Hong Kong rounds and both teams are interested in participating in the pre-moot, both teams should register together within the same form. The registration form for the same can be found here.

As per usual, the University will be providing an e-moot facility. The registration form for the same can be found here. Teams will be selected on a first come first serve basis. Preference will be given to foreign teams. NLU Delhi will provide free on-campus accommodation for a limited number of teams on a first-come-first-served basis. However, the University’s current infrastructure allows for on-campus accommodation for only up to a maximum of four participants per team. There is a registration fee of INR 2000 (USD 30 or EUR 28) for all teams.

This moot will provide teams with an unrivalled opportunity to practice their arguments on provisions of the VIAC Rules in front of ICC Secretariat members, arbitrators with experience in international arbitrations and participants at previous editions of the Vis moot. The judges of this prestigious competition bring with them a wealth of experience, which is why participants at previous editions of the Indian Vis Pre-Moot have performed exceedingly well in the actual competition.
