Dr. D.Y.Patil College of Law’s National Moot Court Competition Litigations-2016 organised by Dr.D.Y.Patil College of Law, Navi Mumbai was held on the 23rd and 24th of January, 2016. The moot proposition was based on Constitutional law. It concentrated on issues of defamation in connection with Art.19(1)(a) and the decriminalisation of defamation.
A team comprising of J.M.Rugma, Aiswaryarani and Abhirami R.P (all 2nd year students of 5 year course) represented Kerala Law Academy Law College in the competition. The team faced Lords College Mumbai in the final round of the moot and emerged victorious. The final round was judged by Justice S.R.Bannurmath (Former Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, present Chairperson of Maharastra State Human Rights Commission), Mr. Bhagwant D More (Retired IPS officer, member of Maharastra State Human Rights Commission) and Senior Advocate Sathish Sonalkar. The KLA team was also awarded with the Best Memorial prize.
