Supreme Court: The bench comprising of Kurian Joseph and Rohinton Fali Nirman, J.J., issued bailable warrants to secure the presence of Chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board on the next date of hearing. The order of the Court came while hearing the issue relating to investigation of the occurrence of the occupational disease namely, Silicosis in the State of Gujarat and evolving an action program so as to alleviate then grievances of those workers who have died in between on account of the said disease.
The Court stated that despite service of notice on the chairman of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) by order dated 04.05.2016, there was neither any personal appearance nor any appearance through the counsel requesting exemption from personal appearance.
