DAY 3 [BATTLE ROUND 2: 28th October,2018]
The flagship event of our college, the journey which we embarked upon, comes to an end. The Fourth Madhava Menon SAARCLAW Mooting Competition India Round is officially closed. The college is looking forward to host the international round which is to be held in the month of February, 2019.
VALEDICTORY FUNCTION
05:00 PM – The last day of the ceremony proceeded as all the participants and volunteer got their pictures clicked and this how the day ends.
04:55 PM – The teams are having high tea.
04:47 PM – The valedictory session ended with the National Anthem.
04:44 PM – Dr. Md. Salim, Director, Lloyd Law College is giving vote of thanks to all the participating teams, our guests and the OC members.
04:42 PM – In the memory of our beloved student, the internal team decided to not felicitate the OC Members of the College.
04:40 PM – Now the Chief Guest is felicitating the Organizing Committee Members.
04:35 PM – The chief guest and other dignitaries are being felicitated.

04:12 PM – Half of the teams got the Certificates, and we are left with other half. So many teams!!!
04:09 PM – The seminar hall is echoing with the sound of applause and continuous claps.

04:03 PM – Oh wait! Dr. Lisa invited Dr. Bhasin, Prof SivaKumar, and Mr. Khan to first distribute the certificate of participants to the teams.

03:56 PM – He added that it is the responsibility of the lawyers to uphold the honor and dignity of legal profession and congratulated the students to have chosen a promising career.
03:53 PM – He emphasized that the the issue of pendency of the cases cannot be solved without the efficient role of members of the legal fraternity.
03.51 PM – Justice Agrawal urged law students to take litigation as a career option as litigation provides a self satisfaction to lawyers.
03:50 PM – “Practice makes one perfect”, Mr Justice Agrawal quoted. He said that the stats shows that even the 50% of the students who passed every year, do not opt for litigation which is an alarming situation.
03:47 PM – Hon’ble Mr. Justice R. K. Agarwal, President, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission / Former Judge, Supreme Court of India is addressing the gathering and congratulated the Lloyd Law College for organizing this Mooting Competition across the SAARC countries.
03:43 PM – Guest of Honour, Dr. S. M. Kantikar, Member, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), is on the dais. He is discussing the concept of mooting.
03:39 PM – Dr. Bhasin suggested that law schools are failing in producing best legal writers. He also suggested Lloyd to hold debate competitions on the topics on the issues other than law, but on the issues that will help the society to develop. He re cherished the memory that Lloyd got University Excellency Award 2 months back.

03:31 PM – Dr. Lalit Bhasin, President, SILF and Bar Association of India is delivering his speech and everyone is welcoming. him.
03:28 PM –He emphasized on the teachings of Prof. Menon on importance if legal education in modern society.
03:26 PM – Sr. Adv. Mr. R. Venkataramani, Advisor, SAARC Mooting Competition is addressing the gathering and the audience patiently listening to him.
03:22 PM – Prof. Siva Kumar focussed on our Journey from having 24 teams in 1st edition to 52 teams in 4th edition.
03:18 PM – Prof. (Dr.) S. Siva Kumar, Former Member, Law Commission of India, is addressing the gathering. He thanked Sr. Adv. Mr. R. Ventakramini, Mr. Manohar Thairani, and Advocate Mr. R. Ravi Prakash for their continuous support.
03:16 PM –Lloyd values the efforts of the students and also the sudden demise of our beloved student. He announced that from this edition, in the memory of our student, the best mooter will be awarded Sorobjit Basu Memorial Award.
03:14 PM – “The OC has continuously ensured transparency and accountancy of the Competition”, Mr. Khan emphasized.
03:10 PM – Mr. Akhilesh K. Khan, Deputy Director, Lloyd Law College is addressing the students. “It is a matter of pride for us to hold the 4th Prof. N. R. Madhava Menon Mooting Competition”, he added. He gave the report of the earlier editions of the SAARC Mooting Competition. This year 81 teams provisionally registered, but due to the cap, we only registered 52 law schools.

and also for treating us as a part of family.
02:56 PM – Mr. Manohar Thairani, President, Lloyd Law College is delivering a welcome address. He also thanked SILF and MILAT for holding this mooting competition. He said that the presence of the Chief Guest encouraged us and inspired us.

12:15 PM – Court master instructing a rule to the teams and asked about the time they will take for the pleading…..Both the teams look confident and well prepared and judges have arrived and everyone is standing to show respect to them…now all are settled in the room and petitioner asked to come on dais for the pleading.

To which she replied “article 14 and 21.” The speaker is moving ahead with her issue. 12:36 PM – The bench is on an on grilling the petitioner with their questions, however the petitioner deals to answer them with a little degree of success.The bench make the speaker quite flustered with their questions. 12:45 PM – The court master rings the bell. The speaker is still placing her arguments as the judges are cross questioning her. 12:46 PM – The bells rings twice . The judge(s) asked the speaker to conclude her actual issue and arguments.

1:04 PM – The bench(s) pose a question on reference to the case that “instead of giving child’s custody to a stranger (shelter home) he should be given to his father’s custody? The speaker responding to this is questioning the father’s emotions.
The bench looks partially satisfied. The speaker is continuing with her arguments. 1:08 PM – The judges continue to bombard the question,the speaker manage to answer it,but unsuccessfully. One of the judges asked the speaker to re read the facts on as if “DNA samples are use for matches or not.”
1:15 PM – The court master rings the bell. The petitioner side concluded with submission of the case. The counsel for respondent seeks permission to refer the bench and continue presenting his arguments. 1:20 PM – The speaker 1 for the respondent is not able to place his arguments accurately. He is not answering the bench(s) questions. The speaker is in ambiguity.
1:28 PM – The court master told that only 2 minutes left. The judges are asking the co-counsel to speak their arguments properly as the speaker 1 is not able to do so. The speaker one for respondent concluded his arguments.

1:30 PM – Speaker 2 starts his submission confidently but within no time started grilling by the bench(s).
1:44 PM – As per the bench the respondent side were not clear with their own arguments. They were not supporting their counsel. The speaker was self contradicting. After that they got nervous and left with nothing to speak for.

And the judges asked her to pause a while and three of the judges were looking at the memorial it seems like they got the valid points to spot her. And started asking the questions but she is self-assured herself.

11:20 AM – Judges are wishing best of luck to the teams and filling the score sheet and discussing it with the court masters now and court masters put the score sheet in the envelope and sealed the envelope in front of respected judges and now the judges are leaving and team are leaving too.
11:07 AM – speaker 2 is stating that indica is a democratic nation and said supreme court amend the laws about the DNA profiling and also discuss the aadhar case regarding right to privacy. Speaker 2 also state that there are several issue on DNA data base and it can be misuse by the government as it it containing the private issues and also infringing the fundamental right….Speaker 2 satisfy the judges with arguments and now go with the prayer and standing together to read the prayer and requesting judges to pass and order in equity and justice.
10:56 AM – Speaker 1 is talking about the international convention to defend the search and seizure and also talk about the sovereignty and integrity and national security of the state and said it is the only contention of national security and said there is a violation of fundamental rights.
10:48 AM – Speaker 1 is also referring that control drug and substances act and said police have certain right to do so under this act.
10:40 AM – Judges are asking question to the respondent and speaker 1 is not able satisfy the judges and grilled by the judges.
10:36 AM – Respondents seek permission to come on dias and start the pleading on the respective issues. Speaker 1 from the respondent now pleading about the petition and said article 32 itself is a fundamental right.
10:35 AM – Speaker 2 referring the 271 law commission report for the DNA profiling issue and also said that the this thing make a great revolution and now the petitioner is pleading a prayer and standing in front of judges and request the judges to pass order deem fit in equity and justice.
10:30 AM – Judges asked first we should go for the people who are involving in henious crime and then we should go for the DNA sampling and speaker 2 in regard of the question gave answer nicely and satisfied the judges.

11:44 AM – Respondent on the other side started repeating her arguments again but was interrupted by the judge and was asked to just to rebuttal the arguments. Unfortunately failed to do the same.
11:34 AM – Rebuttal: Petitioner didn’t had much rebuttals.Despite tried their best.

10:44 AM – Respondent 1 comes confidently to the podium and starts with stating terms like ‘public order and public interest’ , but when asked to define the same, the silence of the respondent made it clear that the respondent was trapped in the first place. Any new statement from the respondent felt like she is ‘digging her own grave’ because almost every statement was questioned by the judges.In the end, the speaker was mocked continuously by the judges as the speaker was unable to answer the questions impersonated and couldn’t come up with the basics of the case and the procedure.
10:42 AM – The court master rings the bell.
10:18 AM – Just after approaching the dais, the judges once again are interested in asking the questions but the 2nd PETITIONER seems confident enough to answer the questions impersonated by the judges. Brings out a strong argument by stating that ” the DNA samples are not applicable at all by the jurisdiction” which was accepted by the judges at first but then they grilled the speaker for the same. Questions on “Right to Reputation” were asked by the judge, the bench seemed quite convinced with the answers though. The council concludes with the prayer.
09:55 AM – Petitioner 1 was asked to directly come to the issues of the case but was again interrupted by the judges with their questions. The questions like the difference between DNA sample and DNA profile were asked by the judges which completely shut off the petitioner. Back to back questions of the judge confused the speaker and the way she fumbled the situation proved that the judges succeeded in embarrassing the speaker.

Judges still seems to be impressed by her! Judges again ask petitioner speaker 2 if she wants to continue and impress them but shockingly she refuses to do so.!
10:55 AM – Time for rebuttal. Petitioner speaker reaches the dais. Question answer round begins. He is being asked to refer any case law to support his argument but he is unable to do so.Judges ask him to relax and not to panic! Judges ask him to leave! Petitioner speaker 2 reaches the Dias. She is very nervous and starts crying. Judges are trying to make her comfortable but she still shivers so judges decides not to ask any further questions from her and asks her to end the argument.!
10:51 AM – Times up! He is still continuing and even judges are involved into the argument and are not allowing him to end up. Before ending the argument one of the judges compliments it was wonderful to hear you respondent finish his argument. Respondent seeks for prayer !
10:45 AM – Respondent speaker 2 continues. There is a discussion going on between the respondent and judges on article 22. One min left He is still trying to convince the judges as soon as he thinks he is on the right track judges throws a bombshell at him. He is now being asked about article 65(B). Judges are having fun argument with him they talks about a movie Jolly LLB everybody present in the court room is laughing and having a good time enjoying the argument.

The judges grill the speaker but he successfully dodges them. Confidence, well preparedness and a calm mind come to his rescue!

06:50 PM – The Felicitation ceremony of the Judges ended and the Judges were escorted back to their respective cars.
06:45 PM – All the teams have been departed from the College.
06:40 PM – The Judges were felicitated by Dr. Lisa P. Lukose, National Administrator, India.
06:30 PM -The Judges headed towards the reading room for High tea.
06:25 PM – The participants after the mooting session, headed towards lecture hall 2.

Further, he explained about the use of doing moot and its importance and how can it help in building discipline in life, and a great schedule. “Life, it teaches the pen to paper, precession of thoughts and precession of life”, he added.
