About the Institute:
The Centre for Maritime Law and Research is established by the MNLU Mumbai and the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India. It was inaugurated on 29th July 2018 by Hon’ble Justice K.R. Shriram, Judge, Bombay High Court, who is the Chairman of the Advisory Board. The Centre is a think-tank for the country on the many facets of maritime law. It conducts training programs, conferences, workshops and seminars in the field of maritime law. It aims to address the concerns of the shipping industry, seafarers, maritime authority and the coastal security.
About the event:
The dialogue will see a deliberation, on the situation of maritime safety and security and environment in the Indian Ocean, adequacy of the present law of the seas to address these issues and use of the technology to address some of these concerns. The aim of the dialogue is to create the awareness and capacity building regarding national and international maritime law relevant to work of concerned authorities.
