Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA, comprising of Ms. Anusha Tiwari, Ms. Vedika Gagrani and Mr. Aurin Chakraborty, second year students participated in the 5th National Moot Court Competition, organized by Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad and were adjudged Winners of the competition. Mr. Aurin Chakraborty was also adjudged as the Best Speaker and was awarded a cash prize of INR 10,000. The whole team was also awarded a sum of INR 50,000 for being the winners.
20 teams across India were invited to participate upon a Memorial Selection Round. The rounds took place virtually due to the pandemic. The moot problem was based on the intricacies of Data Privacy Laws and various provisions of the Data Protection Bill, 2019, which was supposed to be construed as an act as per the moot proposition, were challenged.
The finals were judged by Justice Arindam Mukherjee, Judge, High Court at Calcutta, Mr. Supratim Chakraborty, Partner, Khaitan & Co. Mr. Supratim Chakraborty also drafted the moot proposition. The bench also included Mr. Bharath M.S, Sr. Partner, Anand and Anand, Mr. Sampath Bulusu and Prof. Shiju.
