The Confederation of Alumni for National Law Universities (CAN) Foundation calls for applications under one of its flagship projects, Project Dhananjay, for its second edition, Dhananjay 2021. The Project aims at facilitating law graduates who are meritorious yet in need of economic assistance, and who wish to serve as the harbingers of justice and enter the field of litigation driven by passion to serve the society as lawyers on the field.

About the Project: Dhananjay is essentially about providing an incubatory period” to ambitious and meritorious Law Graduates from Economically Weaker Families, who have the potential to elevate the standards of the Bar. Under this project, a Monthly Stipend is provided to scholars who are selected after a month-long Selection Process. The Monthly Stipend is aimed to act as a “sustenance allowance” for the initial 1 year (or 2 years) of their practice in Courts of Law.

Dhananjay’s initial incubatory support to budding law graduates is aimed at dispelling the apprehension and anxiety of the uncertain and risky path of litigation and encouraging fresh graduates to join litigation right at the threshold of their professional lives. This is done with the hope that such newly planted graduates will try their best to attain excellence at the Bar and contribute to nation-building. Such a hope was radiated by Late Prof. Madhava Menon as well when he had set up the first NLU in the country. In an attempt to help realise his vision, the CAN Foundation has undertaken this initiative. Given the bleak economic conditions that the Covid-19 pandemic has forced upon us, such initiatives have become more essential than ever before.

The CAN Foundation always hopes to repose the utmost faith in the noble virtues of charity and loyalty placed in us by our Patrons. Under the aegis of an inspiring and distinguished Board of Patrons, the Foundation has made remarkable strides since its inception. The Foundation is immensely grateful to its Patrons, Donors and Well-Wishers for their continued support and blessings without which it would not be possible for it to engage in such philanthropic activities.

Other Details: In the preceding year, 4 talented graduates from 3 NLUs of the country, who were in need of financial assistance, were accorded a monthly scholarship stipend under Dhananjay 2020 ranging from 15K to 18K per month for a year.
