Owing to the spurt in Omicron variant of Covid-19 cases, The Acting Chief Justice has issued the following directions regarding the functioning of the Principal Seat of Madras High Court, Madurai Bench of Madras High Court and all Subordinate Courts in the District Judiciary in the State of Tamil Nadu and Union Territory of Puducherry with effect from 03-01-2022:
a) Notification No.334/2021 dated 27.12.2021 is kept in abeyance for the present.
b) Notifications dated 15.07.2021, 27.08.2021 and 09.11.2021 (R.O.C.No.23991-C/2020/C3) are also kept in abeyance for the present.
c) Physical hearing and hybrid option before all Hon’ble Courts shall remain suspended. All hearings before all Hon’ble Courts shall be through virtual mode only.
d) Filing of case papers, copy applications, returning/representing the case papers and receiving the order copies in emergent matters alone will be through e-mail and in exceptional cases, it shall be through the respective counters/drop boxes provided for the said purpose, subject to strict adherence to Covid-19 safety protocol.
This arrangement shall be operational from 03-01-2022 (Monday) for the present, until further orders.
