The State Government of Bihar has notified the stock limits on all Edible Oil and Edible Oilseed held by the dealers in the State vide notification dated January 5, 2022.

Key points:

  • Any dealer of Edible Oil and Edible Oilseed in the State of Bihar shall not keep the stock of Edible Oil and Edible Oil seed in a given time in excess of quantities mentioned below:-
  1. Municipal Corporation Areas – Edible Oil – 500 (Five Hundred) quintals and Edible Oilseed -1000 (One Thousand) quintals.
  2. All Other Areas – Edible Oil – 250 (Two Hundred fifty) quintals and Edible Oilseed -500 (Five Hundred) quintals.

 

Provided that nothing contained in this order shall apply to the holding or keeping of stock of Edible Oil and Edible Oilseed by the Following: –

  1. Stock held on Government account;
  2. Stock held by the recognized dealers nominated by the State Government or an officer authorized by it to hold stock for distribution through Fair Price Shops;
  3. Stock held by the Food Corporation of India/Bihar State Food Corporation, stock;
  4. An exporter, being a refiner, miller, extractor, wholesaler or retailer or dealer, having Importer Exporter Code Number issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade, if such exporter is able to demonstrate that the whole or part of his stock in respect of edible oils and edible oilseeds are meant for exports, to the extent of the stock meant for export.
  5. An importer, being a refiner, miller, extractor, wholesaler or retailer or dealer, if such importer is able to demonstrate that part of his stock in respect of edible oils and edible oilseeds are sourced from imports.

 

In case, the stocks held by respective legal entities are higher than the prescribed limits then they shall declare the same on the portal (https://evegoils.nic.in) of Department of Food & Public Distribution and bring it to the prescribed stock limits as decided by the State/District administration where it is conducting its business within 30 days of the issue of such notification by the said authorities.
