Symbiosis Law School, Pune, a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) is proud to host the Virtual ‘10th International Annual Research Conference on Rule of Law in Context: Climate Change and Sustainable Development- Indian and Global Perspectives’ (SYMROLIC 2022), with special focus on Legal System & Stakeholder Behaviour, Environmental Protection, Climate Change, Global Inequalities and Innovation, on the 25th and 26th of March 2022 in association with Symbiosis Law School NOIDA, Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad and Symbiosis Law School Nagpur.

 

SYMROLIC brings the Faculty of Law, SIU’s own imprint in the world of legal research. What once began as only a national conference showcasing in-house research has transformed into an international avenue for developing new ideas and honing research skills in 2015. SYMROLIC focuses on leading research trends and tries to narrow the gap between idea and reality of rule of law and society.

 

It is an interdisciplinary conference that emphasizes Law & Life Interface in Innovation, Science, Technology, Management, Human Behaviour, Global Policy and Governance. The conference, over the years, has offered a strong platform to discuss, collaborate and explore diverse issues in the field of research studies. It invites some of the great minds to share and discuss their ideas on contemporary research.

 

Day 1 of SYMROLIC, 2022 will commence on 25th March, Friday with the Inaugural Ceremony at 10:30 AM IST.  Mr. Manjeev Singh Puri, Former Indian Ambassador and Secretary to the Government of India will be the Chief Guest. The event will also be graced by the presence of Prof. Lasya Vyakaranam, Assistant Professor, SLS, Pune; Dr. Aparajita Mohanty Associate Professor & Deputy Director (Academics), SLS, Pune and Prof. (Dr.) Shashikala Gurpur Fulbright Scholar, Jean Monnet Chair Professor, Director Symbiosis Law School, Pune and Dean, Faculty of Law, SIU.

 

The Inaugural Ceremony of SYMROLIC will witness the launch of July-December 2021 edition of the bi-annual SLS, Pune News Letter, LexEt. It will also witness the release of “Understanding Art Law in India” by Rodney D Ryder & Vatsal Mehrotra, 3rd yr BA LLB (Hons) SLS,Pune.

 

The two day conference will offer a unique opportunity to the audience to enrich themselves through one plenary, six tracks, one workshop and resource persons who are international or of international repute.

 

Plenary Session I on “Post COVID challenges to Rule of Law & Sustainable Development Goals” will have Dr. Annette E. Clark, Dean and Professor of Law, Seattle University School of Law, Seattle, Washington, US;  Dr. Henrico Radley, Advocate of the High Court of South Africa, Department of Public Law & Jurisprudence, Faculty of Law, University of the Western Cape, South African and Dr. Siobhan Mullally, UN Special Rapporteur on Trafficking in Persons, especially in Women and Children, Director, Irish Centre for Human Rights, School of Law, National University of Ireland, Galway as resource persons.

 

Plenary I will be followed by Workshop Session I on “Qualitative Data Management and Analysis” by Dr. Manisha Nitin Gore, Assistant Professor, Symbiosis Community Outreach Program Extension (SCOPE), SIU.

The knowledge safari will further explore creation of new ideas through papers presentation in 6 Parallel Tracks. SLS, Pune is proud to announce that it received 64 abstracts.

 

Track 1 on “ Law and Human Behavior (Legal System & Stakeholder Behaviour with Respect to Law and Human Behaviour, Environmental Protection)” will have Dr. Y S R Murthy, Vice Chancellor, RV University, Dr. Parul Rishi, Professor, Indian Institute of Forest Management and Dr. Gurudas Nulkar, Head- Symbiosis Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability as resource persons.

 

Track 2 on “International Law, Policy and Governance (Climate Change, International Migration, Global Inequalities)” will have Dr. Daniella Irrera, Associate Professor of Political Science and International Relations, University of Catania, Italy and Dr. S. G Sreejith, Professor and Executive Dean, Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University serving as resource persons.

 

Track 3 on “EU Climate Justice Law, Governance, Management and Policy (Climate Change, Cascading to Community, Corporate Compliances)” will have Dr. Atanas Georgiev, Dean, Faculty of Economics & Business Administration, Sofia University, Dr. T R Subramanya, Dean, School of Legal Studies CMR University and Dr. Przemyslaw Tacik, Assistant Professor, Jagiellonian University in Kraków as resource persons.

 

Track 4, on “Business, Trade, Commerce, Management and Law (Business, Global Climate change and Sustainable development, E-Commerce)” will have Dr. Sairam Bhat, Professor of Law, National Law School of India University, Bengaluru and Dr. Indrajit Dube, Professor, Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur  as resource persons.

 

Track 5 on “Innovation, Science, Technology and Law (AI, Data Science, Law Tech, 21st Teach Skills, Green Technology, Alternative Energy)” will have Dr. Manveen Singh, Associate Professor Jindal Global Law School (JGLS); Assistant Director of the Centre for Intellectual Property and Technology Law (CIPTEL), Dr. Pavan Duggal, Adv. Supreme Court of India Founder & Chairman of International Commission on Cyber Security Law and Dr. C J Rawandale Director, SLS, Noida as resource persons.

 

Track 6, on “Public Law, Society and Governance (Role of State, Constitutionalism, Governance and Environment)” will have Advocate Sanjay Upadhyay, Supreme Court Advocate, Founder and managing partner of the India’s first environmental law firm, Enviro Legal Defence Firm, Prof. Yugank Goyal, Associate Professor of Public Policy at FLAME University; Member of the Indian School of Public Policy and Prof. Henrico Radley, Associate Professor, University of Western Cape, South Africa as resource persons.

 

The Plenary will be followed by Workshop Session II on “Indian Philosophy in Research Methodology” by Pranav Kumar Vasishta Researcher on Dharmaśāstra-s and the Constitution of India Rashtram School of Public Leadership.

 

Prof. (Dr.) Shashikala Gurpur, Fulbright Scholar, Jean Monnet Chair Professor Director, SLS Pune and Dean, Faculty of Law, SIU will deliver the Concluding Address at the Valedictory Ceremony on 26th March at 3:15PM IST. The track-wise winners of the paper presentations will also be announced.
