About IJLT

The Indian Journal of Law and Technology (IJLT) (ISSN: 0973-0362) is an open-access, peer-reviewed, student-run law journal published annually by the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore.

Established in 2005, IJLT is the first and only law journal in India devoted exclusively to the study of the interface between law and technology. IJLT also runs a blog to publish short articles on contemporary developments and organises lectures and conferences to promote interest and scholarship in the field of law and technology in India.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions to the Journal

Submissions to IJLT’s General Issue are now accepted on a rolling basis

Categories of Submissions:

1. Articles (5000-12000 words).

2. Essays (3000-5000 words).

3. Case Notes, Legislative Comments, Book/Article Reviews (2000-5000 words).

   The above limits are exclusive of footnotes. Substantive footnoting is allowed.

Guidelines:

1. Submissions must be submitted using this form.

2. Submissions should be compulsorily on topics falling within technology law and its related areas.

3. An abstract (not more than 250 words) must be submitted, concurrently with the manuscript.

4. Submissions must be in English only.

5. Co-authorship (up to a maximum of 3 authors) is permitted.

6. The body of the paper shall be in Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 line spacing. Footnotes should be in Times New Roman, size 10 single line spacing.

7. Kindly follow the OSCOLA (4th edition) style of citation.

8. All submissions must be original, unpublished and not under consideration by any other journal/forum.

9. Please send in your submissions in MS/Open Word (*.doc OR *.docx)

10. IJLT shall get back with reviews in 4-6 weeks.

Note:

• IJLT is a UGC-CARE (University Grant Commission – Consortium for Academic and Research Ethics) indexed Journal.

• IJLT does not charge any monetary fees to authors at any stage.

• IJLT aims to publish novel and analytical scholarship to contribute to the global literature on technology law. Descriptive, non-novel submissions are thus discouraged.

• The Editorial Board may take upto 5 weeks to respond to a submission with a preliminary review.

Submissions for the Blog

IJLT is currently accepting contributions for its Blog on a rolling basis.

About

IJLT is the first and only law journal in India devoted exclusively to the study of the interface between law and technology. The Journal as per its mandate places an emphasis on a developing country perspective or a comparative approach that benefits the developing world. To enable us to respond to current events with the immediacy that they require, the IJLT Blog was launched as a companion to the print journal. The mandate of the IJLT Blog, much like the Journal, is to provide current, incisive, and accessible legal scholarship on contemporary issues in the law and technology domain.

Submission Guidelines

The IJLT Blog invites contributions in the following categories:

• Responses to articles previously published in the print journal or on the IJLT Blog

• Comments on contemporary legal developments – including topical issues, recent judgments, and legislative changes.

• Book reviews engaging with recent literary works

1. Submissions must be made using this form only

2. Articles must be between 1,500-2,500 words. This is flexible, based on the quality of the piece. We are keen to include tables, charts, and relevant figures where appropriate.

3. We use links rather than citations for references. Links should direct readers to more detailed reports or other pieces of research, news items or other blog posts. Open access sources are preferable compared to those behind paywalls. Please insert a hyperlink at the relevant point of your argument that you’d like to reference. Substantial footnoting is permitted, but to be used sparingly.

4. A blog post may be co-authored by a maximum of 2 authors.

5. Authors must ensure that their chosen theme/arguments have not already been substantially covered in past articles or contemporary discourse. However, this does not apply to responses or differing perspectives on existing content.

6. All manuscripts submitted to the IJLT Blog must be original and must not have been published elsewhere.

7. In the event that a manuscript submitted to the IJLT Blog has been submitted and accepted by any other journal or blog, the author must withdraw their submission from IJLT. If the IJLT Blog accepts the manuscript first, the author must withdraw it for consideration from all other journals or blogs. Failure to do so will lead to the removal of the piece from consideration for publication in IJLT Blog.

Editorial Process

1. We accept contributions to the IJLT Blog on a rolling basis.

2. We aim to respond to blog submissions within two-to-three weeks of receiving them.

3. In case of articles on very recent developments which may lose novelty or relevance within days, authors may request an expedited review by adding the words “Expedited” in the subject line. Such articles shall be reviewed within one week. Such exception shall be granted solely at the discretion of the Editorial Board.

4. Please note that submissions not conforming to these guidelines may be rejected without review. While we strive to provide substantive feedback for every submission we receive, it may not always be possible to do so, given the large number of submissions. We reserve the right to reject submissions without providing substantive feedback
