About the University
Chanakya National Law University [CNLU] is an autonomous law university in Patna, Bihar, India. It was established in 2006 by the Government of Bihar as a public university dedicated to the field of Legal Education.
About Chanakya Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution
The Chanakya Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CCADR) has been established at Chanakya National Law University, Patna, in the year 2021, with the objective to promote academic research on themes pertaining to the resolution of disputes.
With the establishment of this research centre, we aim to develop a congenial environment for students and researchers to further their interest in ADR, which enables skill development and helps us compete at the national and international levels. CCADR will strive to promote Lok Adalat as an indigenous means of the dispute resolution process, involve in the policy framework related to ADR, and encourage law students to take up activities in the field of ADR by conducting competitions, workshops, and encouraging research. CCADR will conduct certification, online training, diploma/degree programs, and specialized courses in the field of ADR.
About the Guest Lecture
The lecture is a vision of CCADR to provide a platform to students as well as young practitioners to learn from the experience of ADR, such as Arbitration, Mediation, and Negotiation experts.

Speaker Details
Mr. Sameer Shah is an Arbitrator/Mediator who is currently the Director of the Indian branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London). He pursued his LL.B. in the year 1994 from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi, and subsequently started practising in Ahmedabad in the year 1994, upon being enrolled in the Bar Council.
He is regularly invited as one of the Panel Arbitrator Judges in the Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition in Hong Kong and the International Moot Competition in Shanghai, China, along with being invited often to attend as a Speaker in various National and International Conferences on Arbitration and Mediation. He frequently conducts training courses as a Tutor for CIArb-India for training professionals as Arbitrators.
With a vision of further growth and expansion, particularly in the Corporate and Financial-Legal Sector, he is enrolled as an active member of the Indo-China Cultural And Economic Council (ICEC) and also the Indo-Canadian Business Centre (ICBC). He is Empanelled with Hong Kong Mediation Services Ltd., Hong Kong, as a mediator and empanelled as an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Art (CAfA), the Netherlands, and the Bali International Arbitration and Mediation Centre.
Apart from the aforementioned achievements, he is the founder of ADR BAR India, Co-founder & Executive Committee Member of the Indian chapter of Energy Related Arbitration Practitioners (ENRAP), Advisory Board Member of the Gujarat International Maritime Arbitration Center, and a member of the National Committee for Legal Services Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).
