The Jindal Forum for International and Economic Laws (‘JFIEL’) is organizing its first Student Paper Conference from 7th to 10th April, 2023. The theme for the conference is ‘Making International Law Relevant: Promises and Challenges for India’.
The conference acknowledges the fact that international law is not a prominent part of Indian legal practice and public discourse. The conference aims at challenging this status quo with analytical, reflective and grounded papers which show the significance of international law to the Indian context. During the conference, 20 students from law schools across the country will be presenting their research papers which were shortlisted from over 100 submissions in the initial abstract submission stage. The paper presentations will be moderated by a panel of subject experts from Jindal Global Law School and the Centre for Trade and Investment Law, who will select the winners of the Best Presenter Award. There are a total of 5 Best Presenter and Best Paper awards with each of them carrying a cash prize of INR 10,000/- each.
In addition to this, the event will also witness lectures revolving around International Law from stalwarts of the legal field such as Former Chief Justice of India, Justice U.U. Lalit, Eminent Legal Scholar and Distinguished Professor, Prof. (Dr.) B.S. Chimni, Legal Consultant at the Centre of WTO Studies, Prof. Shailja Singh and Prof. (Dr.) Prabhash Ranjan, Professor and Vice Dean at Jindal Global Law School.
