On 21-4-2023, the Government of Tamil Nadu notified the Tamil Nadu Online Gaming Authority and Regulation of Online Games Rules, 2023. The provisions came into force on 21-4-2023.
Key Points:

Any person who wants to provide any service for the conduct of online game, having central management and control of the service in the State or every local online game provider who is providing any service for the conduct of any online game will have to make an Application for Certificate of Registration within 30 days from the grant of Registration Certificate to the Gaming Authority (‘Authority’) in Form I.

Fee of Rs. 1 lakh will be accompanied with the application.

The Gaming Authority can grant or refuse to grant certificate of registration within 15 days from the date of receipt of application.

Certificate issued by Authority should be in Form II.

The Tamil Nadu Online Gaming Authority and the Appellate Authority: The Chairman and members of the Authorities will be appointed by the Government and will hold office for a term of 5 years from the date of assuming office or until they attain the age of 70 years. The officials cannot be re-appointed.

An Annual Report will be prepared by the Gaming Authority containing a summary of its activities, mission statement, annual accounts, work plan for the year ahead, number of certificates issued, etc., during the last financial year. This report to the Government by 30th October every year.
